HemorrhoidsPro is a free website for adults in the United States who want a plain answer about hemorrhoid relief, treatment and prevention. The pages are written for a reader who is uncomfortable and wants the practical steps first.

The HemorrhoidsPro editorial team writes the guides, the blog and the product pages. We are health writers and researchers. If your symptoms need an exam, start with when to see a doctor for hemorrhoids. Read the medical disclaimer before you act on anything here.

This page covers who writes the site, how a guide gets its facts, and how affiliate links pay for the work.

Who writes the pages

Pages are credited to the HemorrhoidsPro editorial team. We do not list individual names, degrees or a named medical reviewer. A reader should be able to open the cited source and find the fact in it.

We write in everyday language. The first time a medical word appears, the page says what it means. When a study or a guideline gives a timing, the page keeps that timing: how many days, how often to soak, how long a medicine is meant to be used.

A number on a page, such as a percent or a count of days, comes from a guideline, a study or a government health page we read. If we cannot find support for a claim, we leave it out. If the evidence is thin, the page says so.

How a guide is researched

A guide starts from the question someone types into a search box. The opening answers it. Later sections add the steps, what to expect, and what to try if the first plan does not help.

The reading list is made of clinical practice guidelines, systematic reviews, trials and government health pages. It includes the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons 2024 guideline on hemorrhoids and the NIDDK page on hemorrhoid treatment. We read the abstract or the page before it goes on the list. The sources under a guide follow the order of the citations in the text.

Guides are written from guidelines, studies and government health pages, and the source list is the reading behind each factual sentence.

Pages that discuss bleeding, pain or a new lump also list the signs that need a doctor. The bleeding hemorrhoids guide explains which bleeding patterns fit hemorrhoids and which need a check.

The rest of the site follows the way those questions usually split:

The blog takes one question at a time, often from a study. The free tools include a symptom checker and a fiber calculator. They run in your browser, and your answers are not sent to us. A sitz bath timer can store today’s soak count on your device only. The privacy policy explains what the site collects.

How product pages are chosen

Some pages name a specific cream, cushion, sitz bath or other item sold on Amazon. Use a product page when you want help choosing an item. Use the medical guide for what to do about symptoms. Current picks are grouped on the best hemorrhoid products.

The steps are the same on every product page. The affiliate disclosure is the detailed account:

  1. We start with Amazon listings that have a strong rating from a large number of buyers. When a product has fewer ratings, the page says why it is included.
  2. We read recent buyer comments, both the praise and the complaints, and we summarize the common themes in our own words. We do not paste star ratings, rating counts, prices or customer reviews.
  3. We weigh that type of product against the published research. If the studies do not support it, we say so, even when it sells well.

No brand or seller can pay for a spot on a list, send a free product in exchange for coverage, or see a page before it goes live. We show a rough price level instead of an exact price, because Amazon prices change often. Check the current price on Amazon before you buy.

Product picks start from listings many buyers have rated, then get checked against the research on that type of product.

A commission does not change what a guide says about a treatment. It does not change a sentence that tells you to see a doctor.

How the site stays free to read

Research, writing and hosting are paid for with affiliate links, mostly to Amazon. HemorrhoidsPro is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you click a product link and buy something on Amazon, we may earn a small commission. You pay the same price either way. The sentence Amazon requires on those pages is: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Questions and corrections go to hello@hemorrhoidspro.com. The contact page lists what to put in the message so we can find the sentence. How a page is sourced, corrected and dated is set out in the editorial policy.
